We like to promote from within: Here's your chance.</li> </ul> This position reports to the Web Development Manager (20+ years of web development experience). <h2>Your Role:</h2> <ul> <li>Join our web development team responsible for maintaining and developing multiple production applications using modern Angular and SvelteKit</li> <li>Write performant, optimized code that scales with our growing user base</li> <li>Contribute to automated testing efforts to reduce regression bugs and improve coverage</li> <li>Participate in (and invite!) code reviews to maintain high code quality standards</li> <li>Collaborate with Project Managers, UX Designers, and QA teams on feature delivery</li> <li>Debug complex issues across the frontend/backend boundary</li> <li>Deploy features through our CI/CD pipeline (QA → Pre-Production → Production)</li> <li>Leverage AI tools (LLMs, GitHub Copilot, custom agents) to accelerate development and help shape our shift toward AI-assisted workflows</li> <li>Help establish development processes that stick - particularly around code review</li> <li>Provide accurate estimates and deliver on commitments</li> </ul> <h2>Skills we need:</h2> Experience: <ul> <li>Intermediate: 3-4 years of focused, continuous experience in JavaScript or similar languages</li> <li>Senior: 5+ years of focused, continuous experience in JavaScript or similar languages</li> </ul> Core Technical Skills: <ul> <li>JavaScript fundamentals - Strong grasp of modern JavaScript (ES6+)</li> <li>TypeScript - Adding well-defined types; understanding that well-typed code helps everyone who works with it later</li> <li>Node.js - Backend experience (we use it in all our websites)</li> <li>CSS mastery - Understanding how CSS works, using defined selectors appropriately, and avoiding unnecessary classes</li> <li>DOM understanding - How events traverse, how the browser works</li> <li>API integration - Understanding CORS, debugging failed requests, and identifying whether issues are frontend or backend</li> <li>Testing philosophy - Understanding why to write tests, what to test, and which type of test to write</li> <li>Git proficiency - Making decisions that avoid difficult conflicts, understanding branching strategies like Gitflow</li> <li>Performance optimization - Writing optimized, performant code as a default practice</li> <li>Responsive design - Understanding and implementing responsive layouts</li> <li>AI collaboration - Ability to converse effectively with LLMs and leverage AI tools in development</li> <li>Estimation skills - Understanding the importance of good estimates and the ability to provide them</li> </ul> <h2>Nice to have experience:</h2> <ul> <li>Experience with modern Angular or SvelteKit (or genuine interest in learning them for good reasons)</li> <li>Express.js or similar Node frameworks - Experience building backend APIs</li> <li>Containerization understanding - Basic Docker concepts, understanding multi-platform builds</li> <li>Web services - Understanding how a request travels, how load balancers and reverse proxies affect HTTP requests</li> <li>Knowledge of Playwright or Selenium for E2E testing</li> <li>Team-oriented - Proactively inviting peers to review your code</li> <li>Quality-focused - Keeping overall team output in mind (speed AND quality)</li> <li>Agile/Scrum familiarity</li> <li>gRPC / Protocol Buffers</li> <li>GitHub Actions knowledge</li> <li>AWS services experience (S3, ECR, CloudFront, etc.)</li> <li>Test-Driven Development (TDD) practice</li> </ul> <h2>Let's talk about life @ Mr D:</h2> <ul> <li>The power is in your hands: We offer a market-related, Total Remuneration Package which allows full flexibility according to your needs.
